WHO ARE WE?

We are the youth ministry of unaka avenue baptist church. We are a growing youth ministry filled with students from 7th grade to 12th grade.

OUR VISION...

So many students leave the church because they do not find church necessary to their lives. Our vision is to show students what a relationship with Christ is about and how they can grow in their walk. We begin by dealing with their worldview, which will begin to change their belief system, and will begin to change their actions. We strive to reach the core of each student as they grow in his/her faith. We want every student to own his/herfaith and then make it known to the world around him/her.

WHAT DO WE DO?

We have a Sunday School class that meets on Sunday mornings at 9:15am and we have Wednesday night activities, as well. We also meet on Sunday nights for discipleship. We have various events throughout the year, including a Fall Retreat and a Spring Conference.

WHAT TO EXPECT?

We are a small youth ministry that enjoys hanging out with each other, eating together, reading the Bible together, and talking about real life issues together. We like meeting new people and getting to know them

Our youth ministry ranges from 7th grade to 12th grade. All are welcome to come. We hope to see you soon!

WHY DO WE DO WHAT WE DO?

We want students to come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and their Savior. We have been changed by a relationship with the God of this universe and we want every student to know the same hope, joy, peace, and love that we have received.

We have a burden for the youth of Johnson City and the surrounding areas. We want them to know peace beyond anything they can experience from whatever the world offers. It is a peace beyond all man's understanding, but it comes from the Prince of Peace.

For students who already know Christ as their Lord and Savior, our goal is to equip them to go into their world and make Him known. We train and equip them to do what God is calling them to do as His people.

HOW CAN I HAVE A RELATIONSHIP WITH CHRIST?

Heaven is a free gift that cannot be earned. It is not deserved either because of the sins in our lives. We are all sinners and have fallen short of the glory of God. God says we must be perfect as he is perfect if we want to earn our way to heaven, but we cannot save ourselves. God is merciful and does not want to punish us, but sin has to be punished, so he must punish us. God solved this problem in his son, Jesus Christ.

Jesus is God in man form. He is the Son of God, but he is God himself. Jesus came to earth, lived a perfect life, and died on the cross for the sins of the world. Christ became sin on the cross so that our punishment for sin was laid on him. Faith is not simply agreeing with what the Bible or God says. It is not temporary to get us through a tough time. It is trusting in Christ alone for our salvation and eternal life. Our good works do not get us to heaven, but are a response to what Christ did for us on the cross.
